At thirty years old, I am no longer the flamboyant teenager that I used to be and definitely not having the same energy and fervor that accompany the next generation brood today. Part of that probably is the reality that the food I may have ingested for the last three decades is now taking its toll. The new generation is gifted to have all the knowledge that the past and generations have yielded, thus, they have the advantage of getting the most out of their lives from all the lessons that they have been given.
An example is how the concept of nutrition and immunology has transformed. What people believed to be true before may no longer be the same as today, and thus, the present may have the advantage once again. Although the concept of eating green leafy vegetables and fruit have remained to be a really good practice and nearly a gold standard diet for health and longevity. Furthermore, recent studies show that there are actually certain parts of plant species that are home to some of the world's most powerful nutrition gems.
Antioxidants have created a name in the latter part of the 21st century as being a nutrition wonder that can help man delay the ageing process, at least to a certain degree. The result of this new age marvel is the chance of getting the most coveted longevity trophy. Also, it has been reported to have much to do with the health of skin, to which more and more people are attracted to. Lately, there has been much clamor regarding men getting into the bandwagon of soft and supple skin. Whatever happened to masculinity, or rather, kudos to the name of antioxidants that paved the way to whiter skin.
The wonder of this antioxidant magic lies in a part of a fruit that used to be the most unwanted--- seeds of grapes. Studies report that the seed contains about ten times antioxidants as well as flavanoids and phytochemicals, more commonly known today as the wonder substances for anti ageing.
With so many diseases associated with ageing: diabetes, dementia and Alzheimer's disease as well as osteoporosis, more and more people getting past the 50 something line are increasingly apprehensive about the future of their health. Plus, the natural process of ageing which ultimately leads to the body bowing to the "dying" zone. However, with these recent developments, some people are hopeful that they will stay healthy longer and enjoy life to the fullest. After all, life is short, thus, living each moment is the best thing that everyone can do to himself or herself.
